In the last five years the Carpathian Peaks program raised interest for mountain bikers from Scotland, Germany, Italy, New Zealand. This time it was a group of mighty Austrians that had a go at my #up.down.repeat fiesta. And a celebration of good, old muscular mountain biking it was.
We climbed Gropșoarele, Ciucaș, Piatra Mare and Strungile Mici peaks. Intensive uphills including carry bike sessions, rewarded with some magnificent views and unforgettable descents. We spent one day roaming the bike trails in Postăvaru mountain and in Piatra Craiului National Park, and we also paid visits to the Viscri and Meșendorf Fortified Churches, not before enjoying the local sections of Transylvania Bike Trails that wander along majestic forests and lush meadows.
All that was seasoned with plenty of loughs, finger licking home made meals, and the well deserved cold beer (with or without alcohol). Thanks to Marius (Massif Experience) and Vlad (aspiring mtb guide) for their massive contribution.
In a time and age when the E before the MTB steals the show, the Carpathian Peaks program is aimed at those old-school mountain bikers that still get their satisfaction by riding up and down the trails using their own power. Are you one of them?
