Sometimes we forget about just enjoying the mountains. Which is what brought me (you?) to mountain biking in the first place. Now it is a lot about the flow, the grit, the ride, the shredding. About the width of the tires, the number of clicks in the rebound or the number of teeth on the granny gear.
The six days of biking with Alda and Ronan put back the accent on the mountains, and less on the biking. We were blessed with great weather, so we properly enjoyed the great outdoors. Jaw dropping views up in Bucegi Mountains, visiting Omu Peak and the High Plateau, reaching Strungile Mici and the famous Strunga Pass, spectacular sights in Piatra Craiului National Park or in the Saxon Villages near Viscri.
Of course, there was a lot of biking involved in all these places, plus some. The bike trails around Brașov in Postăvaru Mountain are a great way of testing one’s abilities, both for demanding descents and tecky climbs. But after each uphill, be it on pedals or push biking, we took plenty of time to thoroughly bask in the amazing surroundings.
Alda and Ronan opted for a custom program, optimized for their preferences and abilities. They were also keen on getting out of their confort zone in enough doses to keep things spicy and engaging. And that is, by all accounts, the definition of a good active holiday.
