Transylvanian Alps open tour, 2019 edition

trip report

"We had an excellent week together with our guide Horia. Great unexplored single trails and a superbe environment. Everything was…"

Here we are in 2019, our third year of organising open tours, and the most popular so far is the Transylvanian Alps program. The idea of traversing on mountain bike five different mountains in the Romanian Carpathian Mountains near Brasov, Central Romania, seems to appeal to a good number of mountain bikers. This time around the participants were all German. Among them a family of three: Mum, Dad, and their 14 years old daughter. Initially, only the parents were to come, but after a few email exchanges we decided that the young girl can also be part of the adventure. And she ended up being the undisputed hero of the trip. Tough as nails on climbs or pushbikes, super flowy on the smooth or technical descents.

Our Romanian 2019 summer had two distinct periods up the mountains. The first was rather wet, the second warm and really dry. The Transylvanian Alps Open tour 2019 caught the very start of the second, with only half of a day of diluvial rains. Apart from this short episode, we’ve enjoyed some brilliant sunny weather, close to perfect conditions for a true adventure on mountain bikes.

Here is an extended video edit of the trip. A 30 minutes long account of six-day unforgettable mtb experience. Grab a drink and hit Play:
