Transylvanian Alps, Extended Tour

The Transylvanian Alps tour is the oldest, and most popular tour format in our portfolio. Seven nights of stay, six days of mountain biking across several mountain ranges in South Transylvania, Central Romania, nicely covering a full week of holiday. Sometimes people have a flexible schedule, with more time on their hands. Like it was the case with Günther and René this summer. They wanted a longer tour, so we added a few more days to the total, ending with nine days out on the mountain trails and a few…

Transylvanian Alps tour, August 2023

Mountain bikers from Germany, Italy and The Netherlands joined our Transylvanian Alps Open tour, August 2023. An eclectic group of people that shared the love for riding their bikes up on the mountain trails while exploring new places, new cultures, and their own comfort zones. Our menu is tried and tested: mountain trails up and down the mountain. Steep climbs, including the odd hike-a-bike and carry bike sections. Trail riding galore, with a few tech parts to spice up the ensemble. Ciucaș, Grohotișului, Neamțului, Baiului, Bucegi and Piatra Craiului Mountains…

Ode to our British guests

Bikers from all over the world come to ride our trails, and most are very much into mountain biking, bringing over their beloved equipment, and showing incredible technical and physical skills. Some are less into biking and more into spending memorable experiences together with old friends. The demands of the mountain biking we are offering in our tours might take them by surprise. But this never stood in the way of a proper jolly time. The intensity of the climbs and the technicity of descents are swiftly turned into challenges,…

Do you need a guide?

There is a good chance you don’t. You don't need a guide when you ride at home, on familiar trails (you might benefit from a mtb instructor, though). You don't necessarily need a guide when you hit the trails in a bikepark. Standardized signing, comprehensive maps, and hordes of fellow riders will lend you a helping hand in finding your way through the unfamiliar terrain. (Keep in mind the mtb instructor idea, though). You don’t need a guide when you are keen on exploring new places on your own, getting…

Our mtb tours in Romania

We organise guided mountain biking tours in South-East Transylvania, Central Romania, in the Carpathian Mountains surrounding the medieval city of Brașov (Bucegi, Piatra Craiului, Ciucaș, Postăvaru, Piatra Mare, Baiului, Grohotișului, Neamțului, etc). We have several programs you can choose from: one week, medium, advanced or expert level, all- inclusive or guiding-only tours. We have a few fixed dates open tours that you can join, but we also run them on demand, for specific group sizes and dates. There's a comprehensive form on the contact page. Use it if you want…

Thin air, narrow trails: mtb at its finest

Our latest mtb tour format just went through its first iteration. Nine peaks in six different mountains, ranging from 1800 to 2500m. We've designed the Carpathian Peaks tour format having in mind those bikers who are looking for a true mountain experience: ready to sweat on the uphills (and push or carry bike sessions) in order to be immersed in some exquisite views, to feel the satisfaction of reaching a few summits, and - of course - to savour the thrill of the descents. Tom is exactly this kind of…

Bonanza trail! – Transylvanian Alps 2021

It was scheduled to happen in June 2020, but a tiny virus had other plans for the entire planet Earth. More than one year later our Belgian guests finally arrived in Romania for the week-long Transylvanian Alps tour, adding the South East Carpathian Mountains to their impressive list of mountain biking destinations. The menu was, as always, complex: long and demanding climbs, push and carry-bike sessions, epic descents on "Bonanza trails". Zero bears encounters, but a few shepherd dogs (honestly a bigger threat for the unaccustomed traveller). Lots of loughs,…

The weird summer of 2020

With our classic, week-long tours put on hold by the global COVID pandemic, the summer of 2021 was mainly about short, custom made tours. We had a bunch of mountain bikers eager to have a taste of what mtb in the mountains looks like. And a taste they had, realising that mountain biking is (much) more than biking. Physically, technically, mentally. But also a lot of fun, especially for those who accept that enjoyment comes also with plenty of perspiration. We are looking forward to see them up the mountains…

Three days in a MTB trail paradise

Alex is a student in Cluj, just about to finish his medical studies. A keen mountain biker, he thought of a short bike trip in the Romanian mountains for him, his dad Martin and his cousin Christian, trying to discover what gems lay hidden in this corner of Europe. For the first day of their adventure they went to the Sinaia bike park, concentrating on clearing various jumps and gaps. For the next three days they wanted some wild, natural trails, so they called us to design a suitable program.…

Up and down the Strunga Pass

In a very busy summer schedule we are now and then able to squeeze in a short tour that is part exploration, and part photo and video shooting opportunity. This July we went for a loop in the West side of the Bucegi Mountains for a true joy ride up and down the Strunga Pass. The Strunga Pass descent is one of the highlights of what Romania has to offer in terms of pure, natural trails that can be ridden on a mountain bike. What makes it special is a…
