There's a more than one hundred years old tradition of hiking in Postavaru Mountains, on the outskirts of Brasov city. The mountain bikers are a recent addition but they are growing in numbers every year. The profile of the slopes is quite inviting for downhillers, but hard tailers are also popular on the rocky tracks: Postavaru Mountain can accommodate easily different types of bikers and different types of competitions, Mountain running, duathlon, downhill/freeride, cross-country marathon contests are organised every year and their popularity is constantly growing. As is the case…
Some video footage from the six days all-mountain biking trip we organized for our Swedish friends in back in July 2013. Micke did extensive filming with his GoPro camera, and because of the chesty strap and the full-suspension bike he was using the footage is pleasantly stable. The sound is natural, and that goes nicely with our style on this website, we appreciate it! Especially the heart beats, it really makes you feel the intensity of the whole experience. Enjoy! Day one in Postavaru: Day two in Ciucaș: Day three…
Sigge and his Swedish friends are old friends now, we've been riding together the trails around Braşov for two summers now, as you can see in these older stories (here, here and here). For the summer of 2013 we designed an all-mountain six-days tour with some enduro flavorings. The basic frame of the program was the Transylvanian Alps tour (details here). The (in)famous Postavaru trails were on the menu, together with less popular but equally exciting trails in Ciucas Mountains, or in Grohotis-Baiului. Bucegi mountains were the icing on the…
Here is a four minutes video cut from the footage recorded during our 2012 mountain biking trips. We rode across Ciucaş, Neamţului, Baiului, Bucegi, Piatra Craiului, Postăvaru, together with wonderful people from around the world. This is to Sigge, Mikke, Arnon, George, Răzvan, Karin, Yvonne, Angelique, Henk and all the others who shared with us the pleasure and the pain of mountain biking in the Carpathians. Enjoy!
[singlepic id=885 w=500 h=333 float=right]We started last year's mtb season on the trails of Postavaru mountain, testing options for the XCM Brasov competition. The fresh green grass and the mild weather inspired Andrei and Mihai to play around, as you can see in the photo gallery below. A video edit done on the same occasion can be viewed here. The scenario seems similar this year, there are only two months left till XCM Brasov 2013 competition and the nice weather is finally calling us up on the trails. We'll be…
One less popular trail descending form Poiana Braşov to Braşov city is the Yellow Triangle. Ideal for advanced cross-country and all-mountain enthusiasts, as there are a few quite demanding uphill sections, this trail is most of the times avoided by the local downhillers. They prefer more straight forward descents, and ”Valea cu Apa” is much closer to their expectations. But for the ones not minding (or even enjoying) some steep and technical climbing along with tricky descents mixed with nicely-flowing singletrack sections, the Yellow Triangle is not to be missed.…
We rode this weekend the trails of Postăvaru and Piatra Craiului, and it was great fun. We were also able to dodge some of the terrible heat of this Mediterranean summer by staying under the trees for as much as possible. And as an extra-bonus, an unexpected but quite thrilling photo shooting with a Swedish model: Sigge was kind enough to show us some of his skills. Was it all-mountain? Freeride? Cross-country? Downhill? A little bit of everything. Or, simply, mountainbiking. Thanks, Arnon and Sigge, for a nice weekend. Keep…
Ten minutes video with footage filmed this spring on the trails of Postăvaru, home of the Braşov XCM marathon.
A sunny and frozen ski touring day in Postăvaru Mountain. The ideal opportunity to study future mountain biking trails, and also to test the recently awarded Go Pro HD Hero 2 video camera (more here). The results were equally encouraging. On one hand a very promising route from Postăvaru down to Poiana Braşov seems to emerge. A juicy single trail for the cross-country and all mountain aficionados. Can't wait for the snow to melt. (But not so fast, though, we have plenty of skiing to make up for the last…
So what do we do when the snow keeps us from cycling up to Poiana Braşov? We go on skis - and then descend through the deep forest. I recently saw ”All.I.Can” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1zc2Mwz_bg). Amazing footage: helicopter shots, super slow-motions, time-lapse sequences, incredible scenery and outstanding skiing. It's like watching a 90 minutes video commercial. Still, at one point you get a little fed up, like eating too much of the same brilliant cake. You need to break the rhythm, you want to find out a little bit more about those…
