Our second instalment of Lithuanian mountain bikers came to visit Romania in September 2016, enjoying four days of summer-like weather and riding in the mountains near Brașov.
The Postavaru Mountain, The Piatra Craiului National Park and The Bucegi Natural Park have a few common traits. They are close to Brasov, surrounding an area filled with magic and charm: The Bran Country. They all have a wide network of superb trails, from deep forest to high alpine pastures, ideal for first class single track mountain biking.
But there is another thing, kind of obvious when you think of it, constantly neglected by our guests coming from “flat” countries. Postavaru, Piatra Craiului and Bucegi are mountains. That translates to steep inclines, long and difficult ascents and equally testing descents.
The five Lithuanians were facing the evidence of what mountain biking in the mountains was in the very first hours of the first day. Not an easy hurdle to pass over, but to their credit they adapted to the situation on the go, enjoying the experience more and more, by every passing day and mountain.
As with our first group of Lithuanian bikers, our guests left Romania as friends, in love with the uniquely beautiful Bran Country and with a refreshed meaning for “mountain biking”.
