Searching for the perfect trails

The rainy and muddy summer of 2014 in Romania did not stop us in having a glorious week, biking on the trails around Predeal, climbing the great Strunga Pass from the West Side (the in-famous Strunga descent just became an equally thrilling Strunga climb)

Single trails of Postăvaru – Brașov XCM 2013

There’s a more than one hundred years old tradition of hiking in Postavaru Mountains, on the outskirts of Brasov city. The mountain bikers are a recent addition but they are growing in numbers every year. The profile of the slopes is quite inviting for downhillers, but hard tailers are also popular on the rocky tracks:… Read more »

Transylvanian Alps, the Dutch connection

Four mighty mountain bikers from The Netherlands came to Romania this September to do the “Transylvanian Alps”, our advanced six days tour. Karin, Yvonne, Angelique and Henk packed their bikes, jumped the plane in a rainy Eindhoven and arrived in a perfect autumn evening on Otopeni airport, eager to test the Romanian trails. We biked… Read more »

Freeride in Bucegi and Piatra Craiului

Three days of all-mountain and freeride biking in Bucegi and Piatra Craiului with Sigge and Mike – a feast for the soul, for the eye, and also for the lens. I didn’t mind carrying an extra of almost two kilos of photo and video equipment, as my two riding buddies had plenty to show (off)…. Read more »

Mountain biking photo session

We rode this weekend the trails of Postăvaru and Piatra Craiului, and it was great fun. We were also able to dodge some of the terrible heat of this Mediterranean summer by staying under the trees for as much as possible. And as an extra-bonus, an unexpected but quite thrilling photo shooting with a Swedish… Read more »

The dirt roads of Sithonia

If the Romanian mountains are filled with sheep, rural Greece is the land of the goats. Both are generously equipped with equally noisy dogs, always angered by cyclists roaming around their premises. Their barking needs no Romanian (nor Greek) translation. However, this shouldn’t prevent people from cycling into the wilderness, enjoying the nature, the sun,… Read more »

Cross-Country & freeride in Bucegi

Finally a sunny week-end in Braşov, after three weeks of snowing like in the good old days. We celebrated it up in the Bucegi mountains, for some cross-country and free ride skiing. A happy bunch of nine skiers, four from Braşov and other five coming from Bucharest, all eager to fully enjoy the fresh powder… Read more »

2011 Xmas video postcard

It was a good year for mountain biking in Romania, we enjoyed every minute of it. We also filmed some of them – grab your headphones, pump up the volume and hit play. It’s not going to feel like you’ve been there (even if… you where), but it will be close. This film won the… Read more »

Single trails in Postăvaru Mountain, Braşov

Mtbtours.ro comes now with a small design face-lift and we are launching it with this new video of the single trails in Postavaru Mountain, on the outskirts of Brasov. We went mountain biking and filming on a nice and warm Sunday of November, the last one before the cold weather settled in. Brasov is the… Read more »

Ciucaş mountain trails

One of the best mountain biking tours we did this year was in the Ciucaş Mountains. We tried cycling there about ten years ago, at the beginning of our mountain biking experiences, but we ended up disappointed: too much push/carry bike for a little bit of pedaling. More recently, a friend of ours tried his… Read more »
