Transylvanian Alps, Girl Power

Most of the times mountain biking is a man's world. Any stats I stumble upon, be it magazine readers, equipment purchase, website's audience (yes, including this one), they all show that men are an overwhelming majority in anything related to mountain biking. It's true even with topics leg waxing, or what gloves colour would do justice to the newly bought lime-green frame-set (and also accommodate those awesome purple baggy pants). So, a seven persons group of mountain bikers from Germany counting no less than four women was something really out…

Age is just a number

In a day and age where the electric mountain bikes are stealing the front pages, a six days trip around and up the Bucegi Mountains with Mark, Rob, Rod and Paul was as refreshing as a gulp of fresh water from a mountain spring. With just one guy below 60 to balance a little bit the average of the group, the four Brits proved time and again that age is just a number. Long climbs on dirt roads, like going from the old city of Brașov up to the local…

Taming the Transylvanian Alps

Our Transylvanian Alps tour is quite a tough nut to crack. Six days of intensive single trail mountain biking, with demanding uphills and descents. The majority of our guests tend to underestimate the level of difficulty, judging the mountains on pure altitude terms. Not the Swedes. Maybe they have a special thing for endurance, with their long and cold winters. Or maybe we were just lucky, being visited only by Swedish bikers able and willing to tame the most demanding mountain trails. Viktor, Martin, Rickard and Elias chose Romania for…

Bucegi Circuit 2017 – first instalment

Our first Bucegi Circuit tour for the 2017 season had special guests from Israel. The four brave mountain bikers came to Romania for a nice biking holiday and ended up with much more than that: they've sampled what "mountain" stands for in "mountain-biking", they've improved their skills on bike both for the climbs and the descents, they enjoyed premium landscapes in the magnificent Romanian mountains, and they enjoyed some mouth watering home-made meals at selected accommodation places. After a warming-up day in Postăvaru Mountain, we circled, traversed, climbed and descended…

Biking and hiking on Transylvanian trails

After sampling the mountain biking tours experience with us in 2015, Eva and Christian were eager to taste the unique Transylvanian experience together with a bigger group of friends, offering them a combined trekking and mountain biking program: some people would go mountain biking, some would enjoy hiking, and everybody would regroup over the dinner table. Sharing loughs and stories from the day spent on the early summer flowery trails, eating great local food and recharging batteries for the following day of outdoor adventures. Coming up with a program matching both…

Up the mountains

Our second instalment of Lithuanian mountain bikers came to visit Romania in September 2016, enjoying four days of summer-like weather and riding in the mountains near Brașov. The Postavaru Mountain, The Piatra Craiului National Park and The Bucegi Natural Park have a few common traits. They are close to Brasov, surrounding an area filled with magic and charm: The Bran Country. They all have a wide network of superb trails, from deep forest to high alpine pastures, ideal for first class single track mountain biking. But there is another thing, kind of obvious…

The Belgian gang across the Carpathians

Our Transylvanian Alps program is always a challenging tour. We go up (a lot of up) and down (plenty of down) through five different mountains, at altitudes ranging from 700-800m to 2300m and higher, on technical, enduro-like trails, but also on smooth, flowy forest trails. Weather can also provide some challenges, throwing in the odd rain or icy-snow crust on the high trails. The Transylvanian Alps tour we organised in October 2016 for a Belgian gang started with a different challenge: trying to remember which one of the brave bikers…

Brothers in arms

Milo wrote us an email rather late in the summer, when our schedule was almost full. His request for an intensive, single trail, technical descents backed up by some good climbing kind of program suited very well our preferences. We had a four days window opportunity for a custom tour, squeezed in between already existing tours, and Milo was quick to grab it with both hands. There were actually four hands, and legs, as Milo was coming with his brother Lubo. And there were good, strong legs, much stronger than…

Learning experiences

You live, you learn, they say. Every tour we organize is a learning experience. We meet new people coming from different parts of the world, we share stories, we discuss the ways of the word. Sometimes we learn new mountain biking skills from our guests, it’s always a privilege to ride with guys who are ridiculously good. We also find great pleasure in sharing our mountain biking knowledge with less experienced bikers. During the years, along the thousands of kilometres spent on trails we gathered a decent amount of specific…

Brașov, the Romanian mtb hub

There are many good mountain biking areas in Romania, but there is something special about Brașov. The variety of mountains within reach is incredible. Five minutes from the old city center you can ride the trails of Postăvaru, then seamlessly moving towards Bucegi, Piatra Craiului, Piatra Mare, Ciucaș, Baiului, Grohotișului, etc. The vast choice of hiking trails offer access to bike-in bike-out programs for six days, or more, going through impressive mountain gorges or reaching 2500+ peaks, visiting famous places like Bran Castle or enjoying the old but lively city…
