The blessing of being a mountain biker living in the city of Brașov comes with a price. Mind you, it’s a small one. With so many options of single trail riding in the neighbouring mountains (Postăvaru, Bucegi, Piatra Mare, Piatra Craiului, etc.) you don’t get too many incentives to travel further way looking for new mountain biking territories. If the Romanian mountains are filled with sheep, rural Greece is the land of the goats. Both are generously equipped with equally noisy dogs, always angered by cyclists roaming around their premises. We celebrated it up in the Bucegi mountains, for some cross-country and free ride skiing. It was a good year for mountain biking in Romania, we enjoyed every minute of it. We also filmed some of them - grab your headphones, pump up the volume and hit play. It's not going to feel like you've been there (even if... you where), but it will be close. This film won the Extrem! competition at the "Filmul de Piatra 3.0" festival, in January 2012. Mtbtours.ro comes now with a small design face-lift and we are launching it with this new video of the single trails in Postavaru Mountain, on the outskirts of Brasov. One of the best mountain biking tours we did this year was in the Ciucaş Mountains. We tried cycling there about ten years ago, at the beginning of our mountain biking experiences, but we ended up disappointed: too much push/carry bike for a little bit of pedaling. The old cart road from Sibiel to Crinţ used to be invaded by sand or tall grass - that's how we discovered it four-five years ago, when we started cycling in the Mărginimea Sibiului area. Things look different this year, though. The old road was upgraded to a wider, more accesible dirt road. Most proably because of the forestry works being done in the area, as Crinţ looks as deserted as ever.
